Housing Development, Ullesthorpe

This housing development on the edge of the village of Ullesthorpe, Leicestershire by Symonds Newey provided 9 new build dwellings. Ullesthorpe is like many villages in this area that have grown organically over many decades and these new dwellings we designed to reflect the mix of materials and dwelling types in the area but with a modern twist of clear leans and crisp finishes.

New Access Walkway and outdoor seating area, Stoney Cove

Stoney Cove is one of the deepest inland diving centres in the UK. The former quarry site is an internationally renowned dive training centre used by both the public and military in dive training.

Nemo’s is a bar and restaurant which has operated from the site for a number of years. The access to the bar was via a narrow walkway on the upper level. The lower level of the building was a former nightclub which had fallen into disrepair although the glass dance floor over the water was still in place!

Hayward Architects gained planning for a replacement walkway which will more than double the amount of outdoor seating for the restaurant with a triangular cantilevered section over the water. AS part of the works a whole section of the restaurant and nightclub is being re-built to provide support. This section of the building sits within the water creating unique challenges.

Further updates will be added to this page as the works progress.

Housing Development, Ashby Road, Stapleton

This development of 4 new build houses and the refurbishment and extension of the existing house was undertaken by local builders Tony Morris and sons.

Tony Morris are long term clients who we have worked with for a number years delivering developments around the local area.

Care Home, Shepshed

Hayward Architects supported our client to convert this former B&B into a Care Home for Adults with additional needs. The main building and the 2 adjacent bungalows were totally refurbished and upgraded to the meet the needs of the end users.

A large games room and communal space was created in the former workshops to the rear.

Care Home, Nottingham

Another Special Care Unit for our long term client. This involved the complete refurbishment and alteration of a former old peoples home into 8 x 1 bed units with auxiliary accomodation to provide supported living for adults with additional needs.

The works also included a complete remodel of the grounds and installation of a log cabin for teaching and enrichment classes. The work was in a sensitive conservation area which facilitated the need to work closely with local residents and the council to deliver this facility.
